Plywood comprises of multiple layers of thin wood veneer glued together. Layers alternate the wood grain at 90 degrees making the material extremely strong and dimensionally stable. Laser grade plywood uses a resin better suited to laser cutting and leaves a light brown cutting edge in comparison to standard ply black/burnt edge.
Finishing
For internal use edges can be left unfinished. For external use / internal use where exposed to moisture painting or varnishing is recommended.
Cutting Edges / Cleaning
Cut / Etched parts will have some burn marks from the laser process. These marks can usually be removed using methylated spirits. Alternatively via a light sanding with fine grit paper (approx 200 grit).
Cutting Offsets (kerf width / laser cut line width)
1-3mm thick material = approx. 0.15mm
4-6mm thick material = approx. 0.15mm
6-9mm thick material = approx. 0.20mm
Cutting Sizes
150mm x 150mm
300mm x 300mm
400mm x 600mm
